Words Fade

Deeds speak louder than words.
Those words you’ve spoken so many times,
they mean nothing yet.
I am watching.

The words flow from you, one after the other.
These words build upon those you have already delivered.
I am waiting.

What you do lends credence to what you say.
Your actions do not follow the words.
I am learning.

The words, they are insubstantial,
Whispers on the wind.
They're not real.
I am no longer listening.

A nice poem. I liked the third stanza. Poetry is so hard!

It's only words, and words are not enough.
Except your words were enough to tell a whole story.
Nicely done

I'm pretty sure I know what's behind this poem, too, and it's so very hard to get over being manipulated and used by someone who wore the mask of friendship to do it.

It's amazing how people don't realize that they're teaching you with every interaction what to expect from them. And, once there's no longer anything of value to expect from a relationship, then there's no reason to stay in it. Good for you for tuning it out.

I was challenged by my husband not to talk about it for this topic. In trying so hard not to talk about a subject that was perfect for this topic, I ended up with this poem. lol His first words upon reading it...You lose.

I don't believe I have ever done poetry for Idol before.

hugs an love Kate.

Ned challenged me not to talk about it. I tried. I tried so hard not to talk about it that I ended up with poetry. I never write poetry. Sure, I can delude myself into thinking this is about something else from earlier in my childhood, but Ned's comment when he read it says it all. 'You lose'

;)

A power packed poem.

It's interesting with the rise of social media, how the level of what is said is starting to build back... it's as if twitter is making words speak louder than actions... Definitely thought provoking!

I like the progression of your "I am"s.

I know this is about a relationship but I rather wish I could show it to the company I work for and say - this, exactly this! I haven't stopped listening yet but pretty words won't fix it.

Ah-hem. Don't mind me...

Evocative, obviously.
