After the BFF-a-thon, I became interested in the stamping and card making the ladies had done. I decided this should be my new hobby. I bought some Stampin' Up supplies that arrived yesterday. Can I just say for the record, this is an expensive hobby. I spent lots of money and I don't think I have even half of what I need! lol

I am using the money I made last week to fund my new project. The supplies I received are all stamps and some cardstock. Oh yeah, and the deal of the week that week was the scallop edge punch. Got that too. Now, I will say that the stamps were expensive, but only because I bought quite a few sets. However, I have enough to be able to make any type of holiday card I need. I focused mostly on words and saying and whatnot. I also bought a couple of christmas ones, because I would like only hand made ones to go out this year. Good luck to me. ;)

The ink I ordered is on backorder. Any set I ordered was going to be backordered. I need to pay attention to the deals of the week. I have a couple of sources of inspiration for cards. I am craving more cutouts and embossing powders and the die cut thingamajigs. And hellooo, I haven't even started yet! I am in so much trouble.

There are ways to save money, by buying second-hand stamps on ebay or buying on sale at Michaels. (do you have Michaels where you live?)

SU! does have great quality though, and what I love about it is the colors match.

You don't really need a lot to get started, but the more you get into it the hazier the line between want and need gets. :) Rule of thumb - have an idea of what you're going to make, and get what you need for that. I went off willy-nilly and bought stuff that didn't go together, so for a while I was pretty frustrated about not having what I needed.

You're smart to get sentiments, because I'm always needing one and not being able to find it.

I can't wait to see what you make. Be sure and post pics!

You will get pics! There is a Michaels here, but far away. I also have Hobby Lobby and Ben Franklins. I will watch the sale adds there. Thanks for all the inspiration. Your cards are beautiful!!

You should have seen me. I had to seriously edit my shopping cart before I actually made my purchase.

Noooo, never. Heh.

One of the things I've had to remember is that I don't need it all at one time. It's very easy to mix and match with SU!'s products and what you are doing is building a library. It's also fun to see a project that you like and modify it to fit, changing the colors or stamps to what you have on hand.

If I was starting over, with what I know now, I'd pick a designer paper set I liked, then buy the paper and ink that goes with that paper. Minimum investment, maximum use.
